Visit Rhodes

Rhodes is one the biggest Greek islands with a long and impressive history. It has also great natural beauty together with a massive medieval town. This is actually one of the best preserved medieval cities in the world, recognised since 1988 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the walls of the “Rhodes old town” as it is called by locals, there are remarkable monuments from the Byzantine era, the Turkish and Italian occupation.

A walk on the famous Street of the Knights and around alleys is a “must do” in Rhodes city. Outside the mediaeval walls there also a lot to see. From Rodini, where is reputed to have been the ancient school where Julius Caeser and Cicero received their education, to the ancient stadium, the Odeum and the temple of Pythios Apollo.

Take the car and visit also Kallithea and the traditional village of Koskinou, the ancient area of Lindos and Kameiros, the impressive monastery of Panagia Filerimos and of course don’t miss the renowned Valley of the Butterflies, habitat for butterflies of genus Pa. You can swim in the crystal blue waters of Ialysos coast, where you can also have some fun with water-sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing.
