Visit Athens

Athens is the capital of Greece and one of the oldest named cities in the world. It has been continuously inhabited for almost 5,000 years and is known worldwide for its historical monuments and the first ever Olympic Games in 1896. Located in southern Europe, Athens became the leading city of ancient Greece during the first millennium BC. It’s cultural achievements during the 5th century BC laid the foundations of Western civilisation.

Today in Athens we recommend to visit the Acropolis, an ancient rock 156m of height. Parthenon is the monument entirely made of marble on top, built in 447 BC. At the center of modern city of Athens you can also see the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the ancient theatre Odeon of Herodes Atticus. There are also several museums to visit: the Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Byzantine and Christian Museum, the War Museum and more.

Don’t miss a walk to Zappeion, National Garden, Syntagma Square and Lycabettus, the highest place where you have a breathtaking view of the whole city.
